As an Associate Manging/Principal Surveyor, I have learnt that every person’s role in the business is unique and important. I have got to where I am because I have tapped into the uniqueness of each individual, and used both the positives and the negatives to develop both my role and my career.
I have also learnt a lot of technical skills and have achieved numerous health and safety certifications, but internally it is the managerial learning that I value most. Some of the training I have received has been formally organised through workshops and seminars, however some of it has been through other senior managers and being part of Tower Surveys' senior management team.
A project that particularly sticks in my mind is Nottingham Express Transit (NET) 2. Every aspect of my professionalism was tested on this project. It was an ambitious project with constant trouble shooting, but allowed Tower Surveys the opportunity to demonstrate their expertise to a large joint venture. The highlight of the project, for me, was the installation of the Queen's Medical Centre Bridge over the A52 in a single night.
