Opus International Consultants (Opus) attended the 10th Women in Construction Awards at The Palace Hotel in Manchester last month.
The awards aim to celebrate the best and brightest women in construction and engineering, whilst also highlighting the need to continue to work hard to achieve gender equality throughout the construction industry.
Last year, Opus won the Staff Development and Training award which praised our Women in Leadership initiative, mentoring and flexible working scheme, identifying them as positive ways to attract women into the industry. This year, Opus’ Learning and Development Manager, Ffion Jones, was on hand to present this award, sponsored by Opus, to another equally deserving company, DSG Quantity Surveyors.
Huw Edwards, UK Managing Director at Opus who also heads the Opus UK Women in Leadership initiative said “We recognise that there is still much work to do to drive diversity within the industry, therefore, it is important to celebrate and promote the women who work in construction. We are fully supportive of this event and proud to be one of the sponsors this year.”
Two of Opus’ own staff, Rachael Stephens and Kate Richards, were also selected as finalists in the ‘Best Apprentice Over 25’ category. They have also taken huge steps in their personal development, both winning the ICE Quest Technician Scholarship, a sign of excellence in the engineering industry.
Opus continues to promote women within its business, with global celebrations which took place on March 8th for International Women’s Day. This day recognised the immeasurable worldwide achievements of women across all social, cultural and professional fields.
