Seismic support for the UN

Opus completed a detailed earthquake assessment for the UN in their office in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) appointed Opus to undertake a detailed earthquake assessment of their office in Kathmandu Nepal, which is an area of high seismicity.  The survey and modelling work was carried out using 3D structural analytical software by the Opus team and a rehabilitation scheme was recommended for the building to address the deficiencies observed.  Computer modelling utilised 3D structural analytical software and rehabilitation schemes were recommended for the building that addressed structural issues.  The seismic assessment was conducted to the American Society of Civil Engineers standard ASCE 31-03 Seismic Evaluation of Existing Buildings.  Rehabilitation recommendations were based upon ASCE41-06 Seismic Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings.
