Restoring a 200-year-old water pump
We are supervising the restoration of this aged water pump, including refurbishing the water wheel and replacing its large A-frame and rocker beams.
One of the project aims is to mobilise the wheel, and our engineers are investigating both water and electric power. Before construction begins, a bat expert will come to the site to make sure that the pipistrelle bats, a protected species, have moved to their winter roosts.
Speaking about the project, Councillor Nigel Howells, executive member for sport leisure and culture, said, "This pump is not only a landmark for the area but an important symbol and reminder of this region's industrial past."
